Meet the

project

The idea of the Finnish Design Embassy project is to build a recurring platform for Finnish design companies for the international market. The series of events strengthens the image of Finland as an interesting, innovative and responsible design country. As a rule, the project will be implemented in a maximum of eight different capitals around the globe per year. It can accommodate 8-16 companies.

The project utilizes Business Finland's expertise in the selected city and is funded by
the Ministry of Education's Structural Support for the Renewal of Cultures and Creative Industries (Next Generation EU).

EVENT

The companies listed in the Finnish Design Embassy project are based on sustainable and innovative product materials. Events are prepared entirely digitally. Only the most essential delegates participate physically in the venue, avoiding unnecessary travel.

Know the

All design companies operating in Finland have the opportunity to participate in the project.

Participation requires a minimum investment of approximately € 4,000 from the company, including: the rent of the premises of the Finnish embassy used during the event, the design weeks participation fee, product descriptions, event catering with staff and the company s own travel expenses with daily allowances. In addition, the company is responsible for insuring the products, transporting them to and from the place, and customs clearance of them. The company can apply for support from Business Finland in the normal way.

The project team assists each participating company in producing, planning and promoting the event. It acts as a liaison between the selected destination city, the embassy and the company and helps in marketing (including digital content production), B2B sales, and PR.

The product presentation can be viewed during a day event, such as a seminar or an evening happening with a special dinner, or, for example, a light cocktail party. The dignified settings at the beautiful buildings of the Finnish embassies in prestigious locations around the globe can assure elegant presentations and successful events. An outcome of the venue and assistance for the next steps are included into the services too.

> Project and pandemic

Finnish Design Embassy -project offers your company the opportunity to export globally in the challenging times of a pandemic. The venue can be produced entirely or partly in a hybrid / digital way, considering the prevailing pandemic rules in the hosting countries and the possibility of sudden further restrictions.

The project was initiated in London in 2020. The event took place at the beautiful residence of the Finnish Ambassador, in the heart of London.
